LEWIS Frimpong wasn’t able to succeed where his brother failed in the National Development boxing finals in Newcastle.
He was beaten in the final by Connor Dunk, just two years after his brother Courtney lost in the semi-finals of the same competition.
Coach Russell Abrams said: “Lewis has had four fantastic wins leading up to the finals but unfortunately came up a little short against his tricky southpaw opponent.
“The club, the coaches and his teammates couldn't be any prouder of his achievements so far this year and he really proves that hard work and dedication does pay off.”
On the upside for Wycombe Boxing Club, 15-year-old Daniel Burridge won his first bout of the season against Oxford Academy's Owen Karau via a split decision.
Karau won the first round, but Burridge changed his tactics in the second round and then finished strongly to take the victory.
Coach John MacInnes said: “I was pleased for Daniel as he has been working very hard in the gym and always gives 110 per cent.”
