A GREAT Missenden star of the Invictus Games was invited to train with NFL outfit Jacksonville Jaguars before they played the Dallas Cowboys at Wembley on Remembrance Sunday.

Tony Harris competed in sitting volleyball at the inaugural games for wounded servicemen after having a leg amputed following an explosion while serving in Afghanistan.

But having battled back from more than 20 operations to represent the British Armed Forces, he was invited to join the Jaguars as they prepared for an NFL match.

He said: “Ever since I was a child I have really liked football so it was such a fantastic opportunity to come and meet the guys and see just how big some of these chaps are.

“It was fantastic speaking with them and it was really interesting to pick their brains about their preparation and how they keep their focus as professional athletes.

“I was a Cowboys fan as a boy but I am fully behind the Jaguars now.”

Harris joined four other veterans at the private training session, before meeting head coach Gus Bradley and the rest of the team before players Ryan Davis and Henry Josey gave them an introduction on how to play American Football.
