Alex Hales has gone unsold in the IPL auction for the second season running.

The Gerrards Cross resident was one of over 150 players who weren’t picked up at the auction in which Yuvraj Singh fetched a record £1.6 million from Delhi Daredevils.

Hales, who is currently with England at the cricket World Cup in Australia, was not the only Englishman to attract little interest with Michael Carberry also failing to attract a bid.

There was better fortune for some of his international teammates, though, with Ravi Bopara (£100,000) and Eoin Morgan (£156,000) being picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The pair will play alongside ex-England batsman Kevin Pietersen after he was also taken by Hyderabad for £205,000.

Other notable players to go unsold were Sri Lankan trio Kumar Sangakkara, Tilakaratne Dilshan and Mahela Jayawardene.
