Ryan Bartlett made it a hat-trick of bronze medals at the European Games in Baku on Sunday after two more podium finishes alongside partner Hannah Baughn.

The Chalfont St Peter native won his first bronze of the games in the acrobatic mixed pair all-around discipline in gymnastics on Friday before adding two more in the dynamic and balance events.

The duo won Team GB’s first gymnastics medal of the games, which are being held in Azerbaijan, when they racked up a score of 85.160 to edge out the Ukrainian pair of Yelyzaveta Vasylyga and Shpyn Oleksandr, who finished on 82.950.

Bartlett and Baughn booked their spot in the final earlier in the week and produced a consistent performance at the National Gymnastics Arena to finish third behind Russia's Marina Chernova and Georgy Pataraya in first and Belgium's Yana Vastavel and Solano Cassamajor in second.

The pair scored 28.360 in their balance exercise before taking 28.450 in the dynamic and 28.350 in the combined.

Bartlett said: “This has just been the best experience so far and I can’t believe we’ve got here. It just shows that hard work pays off.

“I’m so happy that we’ve been able to show off our sport to the whole country.”

There was more medal success for Team GB's mixed acrobatic gymnastic pair two days later when they got themselves onto the podium for the second and third times.

The British duo produced a couple of fine displays to record scores of 28.650 for the dynamic and 28.260 for the balance to end their time in Baku on the perfect note.

Once again, Baughn and Bartlett found themselves behind the Russian and Belgian pairs that had denied them gold on Friday, with the pair of Chernova and Pataraya taking top spot once more.

“For all the training we have done it is great to come back and get the medals. We’ve had a great experience,” said Bartlett.

“Coming out here and doing five routines, it has been the best experience of my life. To come third at a senior championship is pretty good to me.”

The 17-year-old will now begin his preparations for the European Championships in Germany in September.
