Little Marlow enjoyed double delight on Saturday as both their first and second teams recorded victories in the Morrant Chiltern Cricket Leagues.

The first XI crushed Holyport by 144 runs in their Division Three clash while the second string claimed a 56-run success against Amersham Hill in Division Four.

Such a dominant display by the firsts, who stayed fifth with the win, was triggered by a 50 from opener Arfan Sharif – the top score in the innings.

He was ably supported by Uzair Hassan (20) and Tahir Rashid (38) who pushed the score onto 163-8 before some lower order fireworks boosted their total.

Andrew St Maur (21*) and an unbeaten, lively 44 from Adnan Rahmann enabled skipper Steve Shore to declare on 229-8 after 51 overs.

Holyport made a decent start, reaching 33 without loss before all ten wickets fell for the addition of only 52 more runs.

Matt Wilson (3-24) led the charge while Mohammed Yaqoob (2-21) played his part and Rahmann (3-4) mopped up the tail as the hosts collapsed to 85 all out.

The seconds, having also won the toss and elected to bat first, raced to 108 for no loss after 23 overs, courtesy of openers Guy Thistlethwaite (49) and Grant Smith (77).

The former’s departure sparked a mini collapse to 127-3 before Nicky Jn Marie (20), Les Ryan (22) and Nigel Matthews (16*) carried their side to a final total of 239-8 off 52 overs.

Tim Potter (4-48) and Ged Holmes (3-44) quickly reduced Amersham to 30-4 and then came back to finish the job after an 89-run partnership had begun to dig the visitors out of a hole.

The innings came to an end, however, in the 36th over as Thistlethwaite took the final wicket to end Amersham innings on 183.
