Great Marlow School Boat Club rowers showed their quality as they won multiple races at the Upper Thames Autumn Head on the famous Henley Regatta course on Sunday.

The J15 boys coxed quad produced the standout performance of the day as they beat last year’s silver medallists by more than half a minute.

Head Coach, Fergus Murison, said: “We have grown in strength as a rowing club over the last few years and the breadth of talent within the squad with the generous support of Sport England bodes for a successful year to come.”

In the morning division the J16 boys eight won the novice eights ahead of a Southampton University crew while the J18 boys pair beat hosts Upper Thames Rowing Club.

All the girls’ fours and quads finished in second and the WJ14 squad were convincing winners against a strong team from Lady Eleanor Hollis Girls School.

In Division Two a mixed WJ15 and WJ16 eight beat a more powerful women’s crew from the Thames Rowing Club.

The girls from Great Marlow School were forced into a nervous wait as the result was initially called as a draw but was later changed to hand them the win.
