Five Booker gym athletes enjoyed an impressive return from the Tumbling Open Competition in Southampton on Sunday.

The club took home five medals from the tournament as they collected three golds and two silvers.

There were golds for Callum Bartlett and Sean Harrison, while Louie Holliday and George Roscoe picked up silver medals.

The biggest praise of the weekend was saved for Sean Harrison, however, as he won gold at his first ever FIG competition.

The event provided the ideal preparation for the National Development Programme (NDP) finals in July.

Eight of Booker’s members will be involved in the NDP finals which take place in Telford.

Next week brings further commitments for the club as a host of their athletes fly out to Orlando to compete in the USAIGC World Championships.

Success at the UKG national Championships last October has earned Booker’s competitors the chance to head to the international event.

Sophie Withey, Keira Middleton, Ella Catchpole, Anna Lewis, Tessa Jackson and Kerensa Neal will take part in the all-round event.

Withey, Jackson, Lewis and Neal are also competing as individual apparatus specialists.

Booker will have further members taking part in the bronze all round competition, with Amy Longhurst and Charlie Hawes both taking part.

Maya Zajac-Acheampong completes the Booker representation after recovering from a broken ankle in time to take part in the silver all round and individual apparatus specialist competitions.

The tournament takes place over 10 days and will pit the Booker gymnasts against clubs from America, Mexico, South Africa, Bermuda, Canada and Romania.
