Reading Women’s boss Kelly Chambers is excited by the Royals upcoming fixture schedule, which sees them play three matches in a row at Adams Park.

Chambers’ side start their trio of matches at Wycombe Wanderers’ home ground with the visit of Birmingham on Sunday before entertaining Notts County a week later.

A tough match against league leaders Manchester City concludes the run on Wednesday, August 3 and Chambers is looking to make the most of home comforts.

“We have a good but tough run of games over the next couple of weeks but it’s nice to have some home games and to have a run of games to try and get a bit of momentum,” she told the club’s website.

“I know I am looking forward to these games and I definitely know my players are because we haven’t had many and they have been training extremely hard.”

Reading are currently second bottom in the WSL, having lost four of their seven games this season.

Their upcoming run will be far from easy, but captain Kirsty McGee feels confident Reading will be able to cope with the gruelling schedule.

She said: “The fixtures are what they are, you can’t change them, so we’ve got to work hard, recover well and focus on these games one at a time. All of them will be challenging games, but that’s something our squad will respond to.”

Remi Allen looks set to make her first appearance for the club against Birmingham on Sunday after recovering from a slight groin strain.

The match could pit her against her former club and she is looking forward to getting started for the Royals.

Allen said: “I really can’t wait to make my debut for Reading, it’s been a tough few weeks of training but I feel ready and I’m raring to go.

“Obviously my debut potentially coming against Birmingham adds that extra little spice to the game for me, I’m excited.”
