Chesham are one win away from being crowned Thames Valley League Division One Champions after dismantling a sorry Falkland on Saturday.

They made light work of a potentially tricky penultimate match of the season as they breezed to a nine-wicket victory which leaves them top of the table.

Falkland batted first and were up against it from the get go as a rampant Chesham attack tore into their top order.

Five Falkland men fell for Ducks such was the dominance of the Chesham attack and they were all out for 75 after just 33.1 overs.

Pip France was at the head of their charge through the Falkland order as he claimed 4-10 including the scalp of top scorer Saranga Rajaguru (28).

Sam Trumper (14) and Daminda Kolugula (19 not out) were the only other batsmen to breach double figures.

The tiny score meant Chesham’s openers headed to the crease with victory all but secured and they were clinical in chasing down the total.

It took them just 6.3 overs to get over the line as Matt Rance (22 not out) and Luke Webb (27 not out) did the majority of the run scoring.

Webb’s performance was particularly strong and he romped to Chesham’s high score from nine deliveries in an innings which included six fours.

Mark Eteen (15) was the only man to come a cropper against the Falkland attack as Ollie Cox (1-46) trapped the opener LBW.

With Stoke Green only managing to draw with Cove, Chesham now find themselves at the summit of the table with one game to play.

Bettering or matching Green’s result will, therefore, guarantee them the Division One title.

Doing so will be no easy task though, as they face fourth place Boyne Hill, who will have designs on climbing to third, away from home.

Chesham will certainly have to improve on the performance which saw them suffer a 32-run defeat to the same opposition in July.

Stoke on the other hand will be confident of getting the win they require as they travel to Falkland.
