Alex Hales continued from where he left off against Bangladesh today against New Zealand, hitting an aggressive 56 before being bowled.
Hales, 28, was out with the score on 118 after putting together a fine innings under leaden skies in Cardiff.
The former Chesham Grammar School pupil faced 62 balls and scored three fours and two sixes before succumbing to Kiwi quick Adam Milne.
It is Hales' fifth 50 in eight innings and he produced yet another crucial partnership with Joe Root after seeing opening partner Jason Roy fall cheaply again.
England managed to make 310 all out, with rain now falling in Cardiff.
If England win, they go into the semi-finals.
