Jack Goff spectacularly at Brands Hatch at the weekend with a pole position and a win and are now leading the Teams Championship.

The Wix Racing with Eurotech duo of Goff and Brett Smith showed their pace by taking P1 and P2 in the second Free Practice session of the weekend in their striking black and yellow Honda Civic Type R’s.

In qualifying, Princes Risborough ace Goff secured the first pole position of 2018, the second year in a row for the Eurotech squad with Jeff Smith taking the opening pole position in 2017. The full 32 car grid was separated by an incredible 1.18 seconds.

Goff held off race-long pressure from former BTCC champion Colin Turkington to successfully convert pole position in to the first win of the year in a dramatic wet race one.

The changing conditions in race two did not go in the favour of the Wix Racing with Eurotech pair, both opting like the majority of the field to run the Dunlop BluResponse wet tyres, Goff with 75kgs maximum success ballast on board managed to keep the Type R at the sharp end for much of the race but the fast drying out circuit resulted in the cars on slick tyres coming through like a train and those on the wet tyres slipped back down the order, Goff finishing P10 and Smith P20.

It was a great drive from Matt Simpson on slicks from the back of the field after a DNF in race 1 to finish in P7, his best finish in the Championship.

Race three was dry and a typically rough elbows-out final race of the day, Goff had made great progress through the field and was charging for a podium place behind leaders Rob Austin and Tom Ingram but was hindered by contact with the squabbling pack, ending up a good points scoring P8.

Team Principal Jeff Smith said: “What an amazing way to start our 2018 campaign, pole positon and all three cars in the top ten for qualifying, followed by a great win by Jack Goff in race one. We have clearly given Matt a car he can put up the sharp end, we are looking to continue with these type of results with all three cars.”

The team heads in to the second BTCC round at Donington on April 28 and 29 buoyed by its success, sitting proudly at the top of the Teams Championship and with Goff in second place in the Drivers Championship.
