WASPS have bolstered their back row options for new year with the signing of Guy Thompson from Jersey.

The 26-year-old has been a revelation at the Channel Island club in his two seasons there, topping the try-scoring charts both years and winning the Players’ Player of the Season award in the process.

He has also been named on a shortlist of three for the Championship Player of the Season award.

He said: “When I left Gloucester I went working for a year and realised that wasn’t for me and I went back to rugby and had to work my way back up again. I could never have dreamed that I would be signing for a Premiership club and I am thrilled with this opportunity.

“I am really excited about Wasps and it’s great to see that the coaches are not afraid to give guys without huge experience a chance.”

Dai Young said; “Guy has made a lot of people sit up and take notice with his performances in the Championship this season.

“He is an explosive runner who will scare defenses with his pace and power. His ability to play across the back row will be very valuable.”
