DAI Young disagreed with the last minute TMO call that cost Wasps victory at Twickenham today, but said they were their own worst enemies in a 34-28 loss to Saracens.
David Strettle won the game in the 79th minute when he slid over in the corner, although it was unclear whether he grounded the ball under pressure from Elliot Daly.
The TMO viewed the replays countless times before awarding the try, but Young said his team should have won the game before then.
Young said: “Our first 40 minutes just wasn’t good enough. We pretty much most of the territory and all the possession.
“We failed to cause them problems in the first half and came in with a mountain to climb.
“Then for 35 minutes we played some good stuff and with three minutes to go we had it in our hands to win the game, deep inside their 22.
“We should have showed more composure and patience. I didn’t agree with [the TMO decision] but at the end of the day we’ve got to look at ourselves.
“I thought two decisions didn’t go our way, but let’s not point to that. Regards TMOs, you’ll get some throughout the season. Some will go with you and some will go against you.
“I’m not going to sit here and say we lost the game because we had a poor decision. To me, it could’ve gone either way. It didn’t go our way, but we shouldn’t have been in that position.
“We’re grasping at straws if I start pointing at things like that."
