WASPS have ruled out a move for former England and British Lions hooker Steve Thompson.

The Brive forward has been linked with a move to Adams Park but speaking at the club’s Fans Forum on Friday night, executive chairman Mark Rigby said there was no truth in the rumours.

He said: “I’ve seen the noticeboards as well and sometimes I’ve got no idea where these stories come from.

“We’ve got two first class hookers here in Joe Ward and Rob Webber, and good young back up in Chris Whitehead and Tom Lindsay.”

Thompson, 31, won the World Cup in 2003 with Wasps player Phil Vickery and Wasps forward coach Trevor Woodman.
