TWO sisters in Beaconsfield are aiming to take the baking world by storm with their bespoke brand of finely crafted cakes – Poshpud.

Kirsty King and Claire Belton launched the business in November and have been providing the cakes for weddings, christenings, birthdays and parties.

Kirsty said: From a young age we have both been brought up baking cakes with our grandmother, so it has always been a passion of ours. We have a creative background and love the chick vintage style, so we knew couture confectionery would be our trademark.”

She added that what really inspired them to take the plunge into the baking business was when they were researching ideas for Claire’s wedding last summer.

Determined to do much of the wedding preparation themselves, they found themselves particularly inspired by the prospect of creating the cake themselves, ultimately deciding to direct their efforts toward a business.

Kirsty said: “We had the idea of doing everything ourselves for the wedding but then especially got into the idea of doing the cake. Doing research for her wedding cake inspired us.”

To test that their product was up to scratch the pair took their cakes to several high streets in the area, including Beaconsfield, Marlow and Gerrards Cross, to get feedback and then launched the business properly in November.

Kirsty said: “It was definitely positive feedback – that was our trial. We’re both keen bakers and we do everything 50/ 50.”

They are now set to exhibit at the Teapot Vintage Wedding fair on Sunday Feb 3, from 11am to 4pm at Saxon Barn, Windsor.
