A row of iconic trees in the heart of Marlow are under threat once again as property developers make another bid to the council to get them chopped down.

Wycombe District Council took the side of protesters in June last year and placed a protection order over four trees on Anglers Court on Spittal Street after Sorbon Estates announced plans to remove them and re landscape the area.

But now a fresh set of plans have been submitted to the council, with the developers hoping to remove the trees and replace with a “more attractive” set that keep their leaves all year round.

The proposal forms part of the new £100,000 Spittal Street improvement programme - a raft of upgrades being planned alongside Wycombe District Council and Marlow Town Council.

The developer has also altered the design of the shop fronts following feedback from the previous application and has claimed comments on the new landscaping proposal have been mostly positive.
