The trophies shone and so did the sun at the Club's recent annual closed championships.

Eight titles were up for grabs and Club Chairman, Mark Watson, started his busy programme by beating Will Rieley, the 2005 winner, 6-3,6-3. Watson's name will be on the Honours Board for a fourth consecutive year, and six times in all as the Men's Singles winner. He and Steve Hall later beat the father/son former champions pairing of Peter and Will Rieley, 6-1,7-6 in the Men's Doubles Final.

18 year old Emma Cottrell overcame Sandy Claireaux 6-1,6-3 and has now been unbeaten for six years in the Ladies' Singles. Paired as top seeds for the Ladies Doubles, they won for a fifth year on the trot, defeating Viv Davies and Sarah Ryley, 6-1,6-1.

Cottrell and Claireaux each featured in a third final. Long-distance member, Sandy, formerly an Iver Heath resident, took the Ladies' Vets Singles against last year's winner, Denise Ball, 6-1,6-3. Emma was victorious again, joining Mark Watson for the Mixed Doubles title with a 6-2,5-7,6-2 result over Denise Parslow and Will Rieley.

Two married couples contested the Mixed Vets Final, in which experienced Steve and Shaughn Hall defeated John and Sarah Ryley, 6-1,4-6,6-1.

Club Coach, Geoff Higginson, with John Ryley, won the Mens Vets Doubles in an exciting 3-setter against Peter Rieley and Tim L'Angellier, a winning partnership several times in previous years.
