On Friday 1st June, Red Kite Community Housing unveiled the brand new garden at our sheltered scheme in Laburnum Road.

You might have heard about the work we’ve been doing over the past few weeks to get the garden ready - well, we did it!

On Friday, we celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee by opening a memorial garden at our sheltered scheme in Castlefield for all our tenants and their visitors to enjoy. After lots of hard work and determination from a huge group of staff and volunteers, huge thanks go to everyone who got involved in the project.

Special thanks go to a number of local organisations who also donated their time and resources to help make the area as enjoyable as possible. They were: • SPH Contractors – excavation and ground works, construction of paths and paving • Mears – materials for paths and paving, timber for pergola • Briants of Risborough – discounted railway sleepers • John O’Conner Grounds Maintenance – turf • Clives Drives – shingle, top soil and construction of raised beds • Biffa – hedge cutting • Brayborne Cleaning Services – cash donation • Starbucks Coffee – refreshments on the day • Eros Hire Tools Ltd – mini digger • Davis and Samson Contractors Limited – storage container • Morrisons – cash donation • R.S. Dellar Home Maintenance – building of pergola and low planters On the day, we had a plant swap for everyone invited so they could take away some new plants to grow at home, and our Rascal even made an appearance! The garden looks fantastic and comments so far are that it has created a really nice outside space that everyone can enjoy.
