NOVEMBER’S meeting started with our usual business, reports were read out with news of the two meetings members had attended last month, the Council meeting at Aylesbury and the Disraeli Group meeting at Flackwell Heath. We had also enjoyed our outing to see the Calendar Girls at the Swan.
Members were reminded about the Mince Pie and Sherry evening later this month at Mrs B Cork’s home and two invitations for events from within the group.
The annual meeting then proceeded, after reports from the treasurer, secretary and the president it was time to nominate a president from the seven committee members who were nominated last month at the October meeting.
The result saw Mrs P Heath as president again. She thanked everyone for their friendship and support. Mrs B Cork is taking time out for a while but Mrs L Richardson and Mrs P Koning have now joined the committee for 2008/09.
Members then were able to have a social 30 minutes before refreshments were served. This was in the form of a two part quiz.
The winner of the monthly competition was Mrs J Chiswell with her old book, and three ladies won the raffle.
Next month (December) will be our 38th birthday party. This event is for members and invited guests only. We extend our good wishes for Christmas to past members and our friends in the Disraeli group.
In the new year, we meet the first Tuesday of the month and welcome visitors at 7.45pm in the Old School Community Centre. Come and join us.
