People from across Buckinghamshire are invited to attend a major health event where they can find out about the future of local NHS services, receive information on healthcare services and undertake a health MOT.

The event, which brings together an interactive Health Fair and NHS Buckinghamshire’s Annual General Meeting (AGM), will be held at the King’s Centre, Desborough Road, High Wycombe, on Wednesday 29 September 2010, from 4.30pm.

NHS Buckinghamshire, formerly known as Buckinghamshire Primary Care Trust, is running the community event in a bid to offer Bucks residents information about the services available to them and to encourage local people to get involved in the future development of NHS services.

The Health Fair (4.30pm – 6.00pm), with over 20 stalls, will highlight the work carried out by NHS Buckinghamshire, dentists and GPs, plus local pharmacists will be on hand to offer free blood pressure and cholesterol checks.

There is also stall where you can use a smoothie bike and some pedal power to make a healthy fruit drink!

The AGM (from 6.00pm) will cover the performance of NHS Buckinghamshire over the past year and local people will have an opportunity to ask the NHS Buckinghamshire Board questions. It will also feature a demonstration of a lively Caribbean jazz style exercise class.

Stewart George, Chair, NHS Buckinghamshire, said: “The event offers a great opportunity for Bucks residents to find out more about the future of the local NHS. We welcome the opportunity to meet with local people and the chance to answer any questions they have about health services. The event is open to everyone - patients, carers, community groups and all NHS staff. I hope that as many people as possible will take the opportunity to come along and join us.”
