A new sexual health drop-in centre for under 25s opened at Yoga Motion in Burnham High Street this month.

The new service, commissioned by NHS Buckinghamshire and run by Brook, provides relationships and sexual health information and advice, oral contraceptive pills, chlamydia screening, emergency hormonal contraceptive pills, condoms and pregnancy testing.

Angie Blackmore, Public Health Principal for NHS Buckinghamshire says: “It is important for young people to look after their sexual health to guard against unplanned pregnancy and the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as Chlamydia.

The service provided by Brook offers completely confidential testing, advice and contraception. Many STIs don’t have any visible symptoms and testing is often the only way to find out if you have one. If left untreated they can cause serious health problems such as long-term pain and infertility.”

The new service is open Tuesdays 3:00-5:00pm. For more information about other sexual health services across Buckinghamshire visit www.sexualhealthbucks.nhs.uk Based on information supplied by Emily MacDonald.
