The update is somewhat sparse this month due in the main to our commitment to various operations and annual leave.

Operation Gauntlet is being very effective in the reduction of robbery. Compared to the same period last year there has been a 70 per cent reduction in robbery offences . The Town Centre team, along with the neighbourhood policing team and the Priority Crime Team are still conducting increased patrols in the general area assisted at various times by the mounted section. Police Community Support Officers have been on the Rye with the Crime Reduction van offering advice and property marking either with UV pens or engraving.

Several charges this month for persons arrested for shoplifting as well as offenders being issued with Penalty Notices for Disorder. For court disposals it’s always interesting to visit The Bucks Free Press website - http://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/ Over the past week we have charged two people with racially or religiously aggravated crimes. These were two separate incidents and reinforce our commitment to prosecute anyone involved in hate crime- where the perpetrator’s prejudice against any identifiable group of people is a factor in determining who is victimised. A victim of hate crime does not have to be a member of a minority group or someone who is generally considered to be a vulnerable person. In fact, anyone could be a victim of a hate crime. Please feel free to phone us with any information you may have on any criminal activity on 08458 505 505 or ring Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The NAG meeting on 26 August was attended by a large number of residents from the flats in the Desborough Road area. It would be fair to say that there was a frank exchange of views to say the least. PCSO Alison Smith who chaired the meeting at short notice was quite taken aback with the numbers that attended given that NAGs are not general public meetings but are intended for the community to drive change. She coped remarkably well under the circumstances and I will be visiting various residents as a result of some of the issues raised. Be sure that everything is being done to address the problems in that part of our beat.So far the N.A.G. has got the town centre CCTV coverage extended to Desborough Road and Bridge Street, been involved in the improvements at All Saints churchyard, driven the enforcement on premises who sell alcohol to children. The next Neighbourhood Action Group meeting is on Wednesday 7 October at 6.30pm. The meeting is being held at The Red Cross Hall, West End Road, High Wycombe. All are welcome.
