Keep snow off car's roof

THANKS to Anthony Weeden for his letter in the BFP (February 16) regarding the snow back in 1963. It brought back some vivid memories of the conditions and boy, we certainly coped a lot better then than we do now.

What happened to this nation, I wonder.

Yet again I saw cars with a heavy amount of snow on their roofs days after the snow had stopped falling. May I remind all drivers to remove the snow from their roofs: There are three reasons why they should: 1) The snow that is blown off the roof could hit a motorcyclist and cause a crash, possibly resulting in death. 2) It is illegal to drive with snow on the roof and those doing so are liable to prosecution. There were reports of police stopping cars on the motorways for this offence. 3) The weight of the snow considerably increases petrol consumption, therefore you can save money.
