Debate should not line lawyers’ pockets

Thank goodness the HS2 Alliance is doing more fundraising to continue the fight.

They should not be asking the councils to contribute any more taxpayer’s money because we are sick of it.

This is a fight that should be concentrating on getting more concessions and landscaping for the local area.

It should not be filling the pockets of judicial review lawyers after nine failures to secure results.

That most striking advert you published on page 20 (May 17) is very emotive but very wide of the mark and designed to mislead.

The third picture is missing.

That one is the view of the site after construction.

You can get it from the HS1 experience in Kent. They even moved back a house on skids for HS1.

The uncomfortable reality for the protestors is that nature fights back and soon recovers.

That’s one reason why we can see such a thriving wildlife next to motorways.

Another example of nature’s resiliance is how antibiotics are increasingly failing to fight disease.

And probably under 50 people ever see that field in the picture. Protesters need to be focussing on getting more benefits for us.
