I would sincerely like to thank the residents of Booker area that attended the wreath laying ceremony for WWI commemoration that took place on Monday, August 4 at noon at Booker Memorial Hall. This coincided with a wreath laying ceremony that took place at every memorial within Wycombe district.
This event was organised by the Royal British Legion and Wycombe District Council. I was astonished and amazed that just over 100 people attended. I was choked when I tried to speak about my grandparents.
Fortunately Booker hall’s president Mrs Mary Steptoe assisted me at this point. We had decorated the front façade of the hall which looked splendid with red, white and blue bunting and a black and purple ribbon display. Once again I would sincerely like to thank all the people that attended. It made it a wonderful event which was held in the splendid sunshine. — Cllr Brian Pearce, Booker and Cressex, Wycombe District Council
