HAVING attended the recent Marlow Town Council AGM on May 15, I was very impressed with the Annual Parish Report 2011-2012 made available to all who were there.
However, I was disappointed that no reference was made regarding the planting of flower beds in the town and the bulb planting alongside the main roads, all sponsored by The Marlow Chamber of Trade and Commerce and The Rotary Clubs of Marlow respectively. This work, to enhance the town has been a regular feature for more than three decades.
I also noted that the council is now assuming responsibility for the installation of Christmas lights. This annual event has also been undertaken by The Marlow Decorations Committee, now absorbed into The Marlow Chamber of Trade, for more than four decades.
I do think it is unfortunate that this was not mentioned during the meeting, however I would like to thank all past and present members who have, and are involved, in making Marlow attractive for all the work they have and are continuing to do.
Michael Bowater, Past Town Mayor
