Colleagues at Sainsbury’s Marlow have donated over £700 to a group of volunteers who aim to keep the town tidy.
The Marlow Wombles, who litter pick across various areas in the town, describe themselves as a ‘group of volunteers’, keen to make Marlow better by tidying and gardening where needed.
The donation has gone towards providing the organisation with hi-vis jackets which are being offered to primary school students for a small donation.
The Wombles are also looking for volunteers for the 2021 Great British Spring Clean.
Christine Taylor from Marlow Wombles said: “We have identified that educating children at primary school age is essential and St Peter’s RC School and Spinfield School are the first local schools to offer the jackets to their pupils for a small donation, which will be ploughed back into our funds to produce further litter picking equipment and initiatives aimed at keeping Marlow Town clean and tidy.
“A huge thank you to you for driving this donation forward.”
Public Relations Ambassador, Jack Glanville, added: “Sainsbury’s has recently become principal supermarket partner of the UN Climate Change Conference in Glasgow this September.
“As a result, we as a brand are looking at ways to reduce carbon emissions and clean up the environment.”
