A road in Buckinghamshire is due to be closed for months during HS2 works, including demolition.

As part of the high-speed railway’s construction, a village road in Twyford in Aylesbury Vale area is set to be closed for traffic for approximately two weeks, HS2 Ltd warned.

To allow highway safety improvement works, part of School Hill and Main Street junction will be closed first.

From October 4, traffic will be controlled with traffic lights on the section of road between Chardon and Twyford as well as a full road closure of a section of School Hill Road for two weeks.

If works are not completed during the time window, “we may also need to book traffic management measures on these roads in the following weeks,” HS2 warned.

Once the junction safety improvement is complete, a section of Gawcott Road, known as Perry Hill, will be closed from Monday October 17 until next spring as permanent realignment of the road is carried out.

An existing bridge will also be demolished.
