Police officers taped off a hole in a fence on a horse field in a bid to stop the animals escaping again.

Officers created the temporary fix for the fence on Slate Meadow, between Wooburn Green and Bourne End, after a number of horses escaped multiple times within the last week.

Officers from Thames Valley Police Wycombe took to Twitter to say: "I don't think horses can read, but hopefully they get the message this time and stop escaping their field."

The horses were faced with the threat of being destroyed after an abandonment notice appeared on Slate Meadow, however it is believed that the landowner and the horses' owner have come to an "agreement."

The horses are believed to have escaped more than once last Friday at around 8am, with some making it as far as Wooburn Park before police and members of the public rounded them up and returned them to the field.
