A popular Marlow pub opened its doors this week after it closed for a major refurbishment.

Staff welcomed regulars back to the new-look Chequers on High Street, which features new-look alehouse The Churchill Tap, with a beer expert on hand to guide customers through the dizzying array of ales.

Manager Andreea Grecu said: "We are really excited about this lovely pub and its beautiful 16th century interior.

"The Chequers is a great place to relax with a warm and friendly vibe and we think the new interiors will only increase its charm."

The Chequers has been run by Henley-based brewery Brakspear since 1893, with the company buying the freehold in 1897.

The two dining rooms at the pub - which dates back to the 16th century - have also received an overhaul.

See next week's Bucks Free Press for a review of the pub's new restaurant and menu.
