CCTV footage of the shocking moment a 50-year-old man was knocked to the ground by a hit-and-run driver in High Wycombe has emerged.

The pedestrian was mowed down by a black saloon car as he attempted to cross Copyground Lane last Tuesday evening.

Detectives are now hunting the motorist who sped away after appearing to drive on the wrong side of the road before crashing into the man.

Bucks Free Press:

The victim, who was hit at around 6.50pm on February 9, was taken to hospital with knee injuries.

He has since been discharged.

Investigating officer, PC Tom Smith, said: “The CCTV shows the driver clearly brake sharply and then speed away with no regard for the injured man they leave lying in the road.

Bucks Free Press:

“I would urge the driver to come forward. I would also like to speak to the young man who was also trying to cross the road behind the victim, and who went to the man’s assistance after the collision.

Bucks Free Press:

“We would ask him to come forward as he is believed to be a witness to this incident who may hold key information which could help us to find the driver."

It is the second time this week there has been a serious collison in the area.
