A woman who was discovered dead in Naphill woodland last week has been identified.

Police have confirmed the woman was a 64-year-old from High Wycombe – but her name has not been revealed.

Her family have been informed.

At around 5.45pm on Friday November 11 the body of a woman was discovered by firefighters in woodland off Hunts Hill Lane when they attended reports of a fire.

Police have praised members of the public who came forward with information, which led detectives to be able to identify the woman.

Det Insp Mark Baxter, from Buckinghamshire Force CID, said: "Our investigation examining how the woman died is ongoing and the circumstances of her death remain unexplained at this time.

"I would like to thank members of the public who came forward with information following our appeal as this led to us being able to notify her family of the tragic news.

"I would also like to thank members of the community in Naphilll as I am aware this area is popular with dog walkers and the scenewatch meant some people were unable to go there while we were carrying out our investigation.”

Police have urged any residents who may be concerned about the incident to contact them on 101 to speak to the neighbourhood team.

A scenewatch which was in place in the area was lifted on Tuesday.
