A digger descended on the former Wycombe Sports centre site this week to clear up the trail of destruction left behind by a group of travellers who spent a week on the land.

The clean-up operation began on Tuesday this week, six days after the group moved off the Wycombe District Council-owned land in Marlow Hill.

WDC says it is now reviewing its security measures to prevent the same incident from happening again and it is currently assessing whether it can cover the cost of the waste removal.

If not it may have to resort to using "contingency funds" taken from the Handy Cross development budget.
