Plans to redevelop a historic site into housing have been submitted.
Developers want to knock down buildings around historic Burleighfield House, off London Road, Loudwater, and build 33 one and two bedroom flats in four apartment blocks.
Residents were being asked to have their say on the development, which is located within the Green Belt, in a consultation.
Inland Homes, which owns the land, said 40 per cent of the new homes would be affordable.
But the plans prompted backlash from campaigners, with some calling for the historic building to be turned into a museum.
Burleighfield House already has planning permission to be converted from office use into 13 apartments.
