Black Friday sales were underway in a bargain fashion store in Buckinghamshire.

Shoppers rushed to take advantage of discounts at Newlife the Charity for Disabled Children in High Wycombe on Friday, November 24.

The store in Eden Centre sells new women, men and children’s fashion, shoes and accessories at rock bottom prices donated to Newlife by hundreds of high street brands such as River Island, Mint Velvet, Boden and White Company among others.

Proceeds from Newlife support disabled and terminally ill children and their families with specialist equipment like beds, wheelchairs and buggies and sensory toys.

Newlife’s head of retail Carole Simpson said the store is like “charity TK Maxx but much better value.”

“Definitely come here first,” she told bargain hunters.

One of the shoppers browsing the huge selection, including a special party section with sequined clothing, was Claire Hodge, who had travelled from London unaware of what Newlife was like and that it supported children.

She said: “I can’t believe this place, it’s so good. It’s my first time here and I came with my cousin who told me about it.

“It’s amazing, the selection they have and how many sizes. I’ve been sending pictures to my daughter asking if she wants anything. I’ll definitely come back again.”

Carole Simpson said the Black Friday weekend had already been “absolutely brilliant," with 50 percent off on clothing under £10.

“It’s a charity but most charities as we know sell pre-loved or donated, but our USP is really cool. We don’t sell second-hand, everything we sell has been donated by well-known high street retailers and it’s never been worn," she said.

“It’s good for the children, who are the beneficiaries and their families, but also for the consumer because they are getting fantastic offers and in these times of austerity it’s a win-win.

“Also, with the global imperative around sustainability, and it’s well documented that the fashion industry has contributed somewhat to that, but Newlife prevents an awful lot of stuff from going to landfill. So it’s a triple win.”
