It is believed that a deal has been reached with Queens Park Rangers to bring the former Hoop back to Loftus Road, and that Ainsworth’s official unveiling could be announced as early as Tuesday, February 21.

Both teams are yet to publicly confirm this news.
In a brief statement, Wycombe Wanderers said that ‘the club do not comment on speculation’, but it seems highly probable that the much-loved player and manager, who was part of three promotions with the club in 2011, 2018, and 2020, is expected to leave.

On the basis that the deal does not fall through, Ainsworth will be QPR’s third manager of the season following the departures of Michael Beale and Neil Critchley.

Beale, who joined in the summer, left in November to join the Scottish side, Rangers, whilst Critchley was fired after achieving one victory in his 12 matches in charge.
Well then, what are the chances of that?

Coincidentally, Ainsworth’s first match in charge of QPR will be against his hometown club and boyhood team, Blackburn Rovers, at Loftus Road this weekend.
The 49-year-old, during his seven-year stint with the West London club between 2003 and 2010, had two spells as caretaker manager during the 2008/09 campaign.
